Amazing Alex gets cameo in Orange San Diego advert

It seems that the Amazing Alex campaign machine is in full swing, for the eponymous young hero of Rovio's forthcoming puzzler has already found the time to make a cameo appearance in a new smartphone advert.

You may be aware of the recently released San Diego handset from Orange. This Android blower is the first phone released in Europe to be powered by an Intel Atom processor, and contains 16GB of onboard memory.

Something you may not have noticed about the San Diego is that the yellow-haired star of Amazing Alex appears in the jet-powered commercial for the new phone.

Keen-eyed viewers will spot that, in between the shots of rocket cars and camera, an image of Alex is clearly visible on the side of a pair of old arcade machines (left in the middle of a desert, naturally).

While the shower of red birds that appears as part of the climactic fireworks is a fairly in-your-face plug for Angry Birds, the Amazing Alex images fall more into the 'subliminal' product placement category. Sneaky, Rovio. Very sneaky.
