As promised when it was released back in July, iOS twin-stick fragfest Deadlock: Online, is about to switch business models.

Launched for free - gaining a Pocket Gamer Silver award - and almost a million downloads, the game will switch back to a paid model - 99c - when it's updated on Thursday 25th August.

The good news, however, is that there will be a lot more content for players, including two new maps - jungle and desert compound.

Guns are another focus with seven new ways to score: HK417, Steyr AUG A3, XM8, sawed-off shotgun, MK14, MG3, and Dirty Harry's favourite, the .44 Magnum.

In terms of better enabling the online nature of the game, you'll be able to check which games have the highest/lowest ping, thanks to the addition of a latency meter and region identification. There are also a bunch of bug fixes.

Free until Thursday, Deadlock: Online will then be priced 99c, €0.79 or 69p, although you'll get four unlock points for unlocking weapons and augments if you do pay.

You can check out more about the game in the following video review.
