Casual side-scroller Honey Tribe: Colony Collapse on iPhone receives an update with 8 new levels, and gets a Lite version

Honey Tribe: Colony Collapse picked up a well-deserved Pocket Gamer Silver Award on release last week, thanks to its compelling combination of education, ecology, and entertainment.

Now, even the most tightfisted of bee lovers can give this addictive side-scrolling adventure a go, as a free Lite version of the game has just gone live on the App Store.

The maker Honey Tribe Studios (can you see what it did there?) has also issued an update to the original game, which brings eight new levels of nectar-collecting gameplay and reveals what happens next in the story.

Playing as the heroic male drone Corbee on a mission to unravel the mystery of colony collapse disorder, you must evade the attentions of birds, crab spiders, and toads by gliding over and under them at the appropriate times.

If an update and a free version weren't enough bee-related excitement for the day, the dev has also left a rather intriguing message in its App Store description for the game: "The best bee game you’ll ever play! Until part 2 comes out."

Wonder what that might imply?

Anyway, while I attempt to decipher the code, buzz over to the App Store now and pick up the full version of Honey Tribe: Colony Collapse on iPhone for 69p / 99c / €0.79, and the Lite edition for nowt.
