HMV dates Super Monkey Ball 3DS game March 11th, priced at £38
No monkey business
The latest hint at the release date for the Nintendo 3DS comes from highstreet and web retailer HMV.
The shop’s site has listed Super Monkey Ball 3D alongside a March 11th release date. Super Monkey Ball is not a 3DS launch title in Japan - it misses the February 26th date and comes out on March 3rd - but it could be in Europe.
Interestingly, the game is very expensive. £37.99, compared to boring old 2D DS game Pokemon Black, which the site has for £29.99. Analyst Michael Pachter warned that 3DS games would be expensive, but Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said they’d be similar to DS games.
“We don't believe it will be in a price range too far off from current DS software,” Iwata said in October 2010.
This should all be taken with a grain of salt, of course. We’ll get the exact price and release date next week, from Nintendo’s press conference in Amsterdam.
Thanks, Joe
