LEGO Rock Band will snap together on DS this holiday, announced publisher Warner Bros. today. The game, which is being developed by Harmonix and Backbone, will arrive on DS later this year.

Unlike the upcoming PSP-only release Rock Band: Unplugged, LEGO Rock Band will be a decidedly more family-friendly affair. Instead of hard-hitting tunes and mature themes, the game will feature "brilliant chart-topping songs and classic favorites suitable for younger audiences."

Songs like Pink's "So What" and Good Charlotte's "Boys and Girls" are among the five tracks detailed in the announcement. Marilyn Manson tracks were no where to be found on the list.

Joining the music will be customization tailored to the LEGO brand. Mini-avatars with snapping parts can be personalised, as well as your on entourage including back stage managers, roadies, and the like.

As for how the game will work around the lack of instruments available to the console versions of Rock Band, no details were provided. It's likely to take inspiration from Guitar Hero: On Tour and Rock Revolution with regard to touchscreen mechanics, though no specifics have been confirmed.
