Bit Blot’s Aquaria floats onto the New Zealand App Store, swimming into the UK and US tonight

If side-scrolling frolics with an androgynous mermaid are your idea of fun, you may want to check out Independent Games Festival-winning Aquaria for the iPad.

Now available for download in New Zealand, Aquaria will swim onto European and American shores around midnight this evening.

Co-creator of Aquaria Alec Halowka claims players can look forward to not only 24 hours of gameplay time, but to a version specially optimised for the iPad, including new interface improvements to ease casual gamers into its vast underwater world.

Aquaria is now out for iPad, and is retailing for $6.49 in New Zealand. This means that UK and US punters will be forking out $4.99 / £2.99 for the pleasure when the game hits stores worldwide tonight.
