Say what you like about mobile puzzle games, but they're certainly cosmopolitan. Consider I-play's Jewel Quest, Big Kahuna Reef and the upcoming Inca Quest, for example, which all take inspiration from different countries and historical cultures.

And now they've got some more competition: Mobile Alliance has signed a deal to release Age Of Japan on mobile.

It's a conversion of a popular PC game, which follows broadly the same gameplay ideas as I-play's range of puzzlers. You have to swap game pieces to clear filled cells, against a backdrop of Japanese graphics based on different seasons of the year.

Arcade mode has you clearing the cells against a time limit, while the Puzzle mode lets you work at your own pace. Mobile Alliance also promises several difficulty modes, and a bunch of different bonuses to win along the way.

The game will be out soon, with more games to follow thanks to Mobile Alliance's deal with Realore Studios, which is responsible for the PC version of Age Of Japan.
