If you like exploring space, shooting aliens, and generally having a crazy old time in the future, then you're probably going to get on quite well with Tabasco Interactive's Star Horizon.

The game has just gone live on the New Zealand App Store, which means it should be available in the UK and US at around midnight tonight.

You play as John, who's a space pilot frozen a thousand years in the future. Cue flying around, shooting things with your lasers, and upgrading your spaceship so it doesn't explode all the time.

Tabasco Interactive is pretty forward in its trumpeting about the lack of IAPs in the game. This is very much a premium experience from the ground up.

Star Horizon certainly looks impressive, all shiny asteroids and swoopy spaceships blasting out glowing globs of red-hot laser fire. Furthermore, the controls are apparently intuitive and slick and designed for touchscreen.

If you don't like them, though, you can plug an MFi controller in and use some expensive buttons to swoop around the great yawning abyss of space.

Star Horizon should cost £2.49 / $3.99 when it surfaces on the UK and US App Stores later on today. And if you like your space shooters to have a bit of depth to them, it might be just what you're looking for.
