Shooty Skies, a new arcade shooter from the creators of the super popular Crossy Road, is now up on the App Store. Much like Crossy Road was a fresh new take on Frogger, Shooty Skies also riffs on classics in the form of Galaga and Space Invaders.

You take control of an adorable animal pilot and attempt to survive for as long as possible whilst shooting your way through legions of cutesy enemies and impressive bosses.

It also sports the same blocky aesthetic as Crossy Road, with Australian devs Matt Hall and Andy Sum clearly hoping lightning strikes twice.

You won't see the Hipster Whale logo when you load up the game, though, as pair teamed up with indie veterans Matt Ditton and Ben Britten (who recently worked on lovely puzzler Breath of Light) as part of the newly formed developer, Mighty Games.

No word on an Android release just yet, and it weighs in at a smidge over 70MB on iOS.
