Frojo Apps has officially announced the launch of Pickle Pete, letting players put their survival skills to the test as the titular hero in a land plagued by darkness. Even with the misfortune of being turned into a pickle, you'll have to gear up and gather the resilience to wade through endless evil hordes, find the antidote, and make it out unscathed.

In Pickle Pete, things are in a real pickle both literally and figuratively. Thankfully, there are countless different combinations of builds you can tinker around with to prep yourself to save the world, with easy controls and an engaging progression system that spices up the gameplay with each new run. There's also a shop in between waves to help you equip weapons and items to boost your survivability as you go along.

The game also features quirky hand-drawn aesthetics along with an endless mode where players can compete across a global leaderboard. "For the graphics we went with the old school 'Newgrounds' feeling," says Simon Höglund from Frojo Apps. "Me and my friends are all in our 30s, and we love how this nostalgic art style brings back memories from high school when we played newgrounds game on the lunch break. We think it came out really good!"

If you're a fan of Vampire Survivors or Brotato and you're keen on joining in on all the fun, you can download Pickle Pete on the iOS App Store and on the Google Play Store for Android devices. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases. You can also take a little sneak peek at the embedded clip above to get a feel of the game.
