The video game blogosphere is always a busy place as far as news and commentary is concerned, but it's rare that something as outright brilliant as this comes along.

Jordan Mechner, creator of the seminal Prince of Persia series, has been posting entries from his development diary for the original game exactly 23 years after he first made them.

Amongst this trove, dug up by gadget site Boing Boing, is something genuinely splendid: from October 20th 1985, the original reference footage for the motion-capture animation used in the first Prince of Persia game, which he shot in the Readers' Digest car park. The star is his younger brother David.

There's nothing else to say. Just watch it.
