Jack Black to bring DS its first wrestling title, Nacho Libre
Stand aside WWE, this man is fatter than you. (Erm, we mean 'phatter' of course…)
Wrestling is a super-popular game genre, yet DS has been as bereft of wrestling titles as a Mexican restaurant containing Hulk Hogan and The Rock on a bean-feasting bender would be bereft of prim ladies who lunch.
Enter Jack Black. Based on his upcoming wrestling movie, Nacho Libre, the new DS game of the same name promises a madcap approach to wrestling, with exaggerated moves and wacky props brought to life by what the publisher Majesco calls a 'photo puppetry' visual style.
Nacho Libre the movie will star Jack Black as Ignacio (Nacho), a cook by day in a Mexican orphanage who moonlights as a wrestler by night. In the game you can play either as Nacho or one of ten other wrestlers, all of whom have their own unique abilities. There are over-the-top wrestling attacks, four modes of play, touchscreen mini-games, four-player wi-fi, and numerous areas from the movie.
We loved Jack Black's rubbery rock-and-rolling teacher in School of Rock, so if anyone can make us love DS wrestling (aside from two naughty Scandinavian students, some fur-lined handcuffs and a king-sized double bed) it's him.
Nacho Libre is slated to bodyslam onto DS in October; click "Track It!" above to keep tabs.
