Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D set to sneak onto 3DS this November

Pre-Christmas launch for new version of Hideo Kojima’s PS2 classic

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D set to sneak onto 3DS this November

Industry website MCV is reporting that the much anticipated Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D will launch on Nintendo’s 3DS in November.

“Konami is targeting a November release," the site claims, though the publisher has yet to officially confirm the date.

Responding to Pocket Gamer’s request for further information, a representative from Konami stated: “we do not comment on speculation.”

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D was previously confirmed for a 2011 release at last year’s Tokyo Game Show, having made its first appearance as a tech demo named The Naked Sample at the 3DS’s official unveiling at E3 2010.

Many gamers hoped Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D would launch alongside the console, since it showcased some of the most impressive graphics and 3D depth of any 3DS game to date.

Series creator Hideo Kojima has already said that Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D won’t be a simple port, but may contain elements from PlayStation Portable cracker Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, as well as features unique to the 3DS.

Certainly, the director’s playful use of technology in the past would suggest creative use of the handheld’s StreetPass functionality, not to mention the likelihood that the game will utilise the 3DS's internal gyroscope.

If you want to see what all the fuss is about, why not watch the video below, featuring seven minutes of footage taken directly from last year’s E3 demo.
