Get hands-on

- Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is set to release its first playable demo at Steam Nextfest
- This'll be the first time players get their hands on this action RPG adaptation of the book series

One of Netmarble's most hotly-anticipated upcoming releases has been the action RPG Game of Thrones: Kingsroad. Despite author George R. R. Martin's resolute attempts to not finish the series, this epic fantasy series still has many fans, especially due to the hit HBO series. And pretty soon we'll find out just how fans like it when they get their hands on the first playable demo at Steam: Nextfest, available now until March 3rd!
Set to arrive on mobile sometime after its initial release, it seems as if Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is following the example of Once Human in prioritising PC. And while it's never nice to play second banana, it does mean we'll get an opportunity to see how GoT: Kingsroad measures up when players get their hands on it.
For those unfamiliar, Steam Nextfest is essentially a big digital showcase of upcoming releases. The big focus is on playable demos that let everyone from major publishers to tiny indies give players their first hands-on experience with upcoming releases.

I've seen some cautious optimism for Game of Thrones: Kingsroad. Of course, just as many fans of the book and show are decrying it for gamifying things too much for their tastes. But at the same time short of something like Kingdom Come: Deliver I doubt anything could live up to the grim grittiness many people perceive Game of Thrones to be embodying.
There is some comfort to be taken from the focus on PC first, of course. I think it's fair to say that one of the best (and sometimes worst) things about the PC community is their tendency to criticise and be vocal about it. Too often it feels like mobile gamers get taken advantage of, but if Netmarble are set to release a stinker we'll be sure to hear about it from players when they get hands-on with this demo.
