It's time to put the Halloween decorations away and start snuggling up indoors as the leaves turn to brown, the weather turns to mostly rain, and the calendars flip over to November. Worry not though, even though it's getting late in the year there are dozens of promising great new games to look forward to this month, and we're here to tell you the best.

This month sees releases for everything from blasting through waves of foes through to state of the art MMOs, and that's just some of the games that didn't make the cut for this month's selections. Perhaps most surprisingly though, this month our selection doesn't actually include any of the games which are coming to the various subscription services - somehow we've made a best-of list that doesn't feature anything from Xbox Games Pass, GameClub or Apple Arcade, that's right.

The selections this month will take you from reclaiming Earth from tyrannical alien overlords in a series of tactical, squad-based battles through to leading a football team of your choosing, making all of the decisions from training routines up to budgets and contract renewals as you cruise through the leagues.

We'll be making a list just like this, right here, every month going forward, so do remember to keep checking back in order to get some great recommendations for games to look out for at any given month.

Anyway, without further delay, click on the big, blue button below to find out about 5 great new mobile games to look forward to this month.

XCOM 2 Collection

Arguably one of my favourite PC games of the last five years, it's amazing to see XCOM 2 running on mobile. While some did feel that it challenged the pacing of the first game in a way that made them uncomfortable, the sequel - and its massive add on, War of the Chosen - completely reinvented the role that stealth played in the series as you go from aggressive defenders to underdog guerilla fighters.

XCOM 2 Collection is currently expected to launch around November 5th.

Book of Beasts

If you're looking for a new CCG then Book of Beasts might well be the one for you. It uses a combination of familiar trading card/collectible card game mechanics but fused with a tile-based combat system to make a really interesting game of strategy and tactics. You'll have to carefully cast spells and summon beasts as you attempt to outwit your opponent.

A3: Still Alive

The next big title from Netmarble Corporation is their open-world RPG A3: Still Alive. What's perhaps most interesting about the game, beyond even its interesting dark-fantasy setting, is that it also launches with a battle royale mode available. You can enter large scale 100v100 battles where both teams fight against one another, switching sides and changing allegiances as the game wills - it's certainly an interesting play on the traditional formats, and could well be the next innovation in the battle royale space; An inability to rely on your teammates by design.

A3: Still Alive is currently expected to launch around November 10th.
