Fate Trigger reveals big plans for multimedia releases ahead of 2026 launch
Pull the trigger

- Fate Trigger's appearance coincided with news of potential multimedia releases
- While they didn't go into detail, it could mean anything from a spinoff to an anime
- Whatever the case, Saroasis have big expectations for Fate Trigger
For fans of the battle royale genre, the upcoming launch of Fate Trigger is doubtless an exciting one. Mixing anime-style characters and design with the classic fast-paced multiplayer action of a battle royale seems a recipe for success. And it seems those plans extend to the world of spinoff media if the latest news for Fate Trigger is any indication.
In their latest announcement, developer Saroasis Studios hinted at plans for far more, as they talk about how Fate Trigger will 'evolve into a living universe' with plans for esports and community competitions accompanied by world-building and 'even offline media releases' which could hint at something like an anime in the distant future.
The announcement also comes alongside news of other key mechanics that are set to arrive when Fate Trigger launches. Cross-platform play and first-person view for 'select' modes are all on the cards. But the folks at Fate Trigger aren't just planning for more mechanics.

Fatal
With the popularity of gaming spinoffs recently, it's not exactly surprising that Fate Trigger has plans like these, even if they're in the distant future. As they noted in their announcement, Saroasis have caught onto an ongoing desire most of us have to be actually invested in the world and characters we encounter. Now, whether Fate Trigger manages to translate that into some sort of anime? Well, that remains to be seen. Right now, it seems to be mainly hints, although if there's anything Overwatch has taught me, it's that if you wait too long to capitalise on fan interest, that can easily dry up.
But if you want to take a closer look at Fate Trigger and see if it's for you, why not dig into our Fate Trigger preview to see exactly what our resident expert Will Quick thought when he got hands on with the anime-style battle royale shooter.
