Dragon Quest VII shows off gameplay in a comprehensive trailer

It looks like the last bit of paint is being put on the 3DS port of Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden, and from the trailer below it's quite an impressive coat of paint indeed.

Earlier this fall, Square Enix confirmed that it would bring the PSOne classic Dragon Quest VII to the 3DS in Japan but we didn't know what to expect from the port past what we could glean from a couple of screenshots.

Since receiving confirmation from Square Enix, we've learned that ArtePiazza is handling the development of Dragon Quest VII, which means that the 3DS port is in extremely capable hands.

ArtePiazza developed a trio of earlier Dragon Quest games for the DS, including the Pocket Gamer Gold Award-winning Dragon Quest: Hand of the Heavenly Bride.

We still don't know when or if Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden will make to the west, but there's always hope that Nintendo will step in to publish it should Square Enix grow squeamish about releasing it abroad.
