Abyss of Dungeons unleashes the new Bard class on the unsuspecting ears of adventurers

Ah, the bard. The so-called face of the party. Taking away attention from the hard-working, honest barbarians and fighters (paladins and warlocks are on thin ice) alongside those nerds called wizards. Well, if you enjoy strumming the lute and demanding to make persuasion checks to seduce the king, Abyss of Dungeons' latest update is for you!

Ha! But you won't be in a cushy social setting here, lute boy. No, Abyss of Dungeons, the extraction hack 'n slasher, is taking you straight down into the depths. The latest update introduces the Bard class, which allegedly increases teammates' power with buffs and skills via their instrument.

I don't know whether lute or hurdy-gurdy or whatever is fight music, but you'll also be able to dispatch mercenary expeditions to grab offline rewards in this new update, while a vast swathe of new gear, including the blunderbuss, great shield and magical weapon, awaits you.

Jokes aside, Abyss of Dungeons is also getting a summer event! Featuring craftable swimsuit costumes (yes, really), EXP boosts to help you level up and an event codex filled with character-strengthening challenges and rewards.

After the name change from Dark and Darker, Krafton are clearly eager to make this spin-off more distinct. And the Bard, wielding music-shaped magical projectiles and other abilities, certainly does so. While it may not please the simulationists out there, for those looking for something a bit more authentic to the goofy fun of dungeon-crawling, this'll certainly be a welcome addition.
