I think that it's a practically accepted fact that King, the makers of Candy Crush and its various iterations, are mobile gaming royalty (pun not intended). The seismic success of this series rakes in more cash than some small countries, and now the latest spin on their candy-coated classic is releasing today with Candy Crush Solitaire.
What is Candy Crush Solitaire? Well, the clue's in the name in. This is TriPeaks solitaire, the version most of you will be familiar with, infused with a Candy Crush-style glaze. The premise here is that this is the familiar card game that's known and loved by millions worldwide, just given that familiar King branding and a sweet coating familiar to Candy Crush fans.
But while the gameplay remains mostly the same there are also a few features brought over from Candy Crush. For example, at launch, you'll have access to the new Hold Slot feature that allows you to set cards aside for later us, as well as the return of the fan-favourite Candy Color Bomb booster in card form, to help you conquer tricky levels.

It occurs to me that in the wake of the success of Balatro, it feels as if more puzzlers are bringing back the classic card format. Previously, I think most of us would agree that Microsoft Solitaire was the peak of the genre and found it hard to imagine anything but a flashy TCG making the shuffling of a deck anything but mind-numbingly boring.
Bold move then, of King, to decide that they wanted to tackle one of the virtually untouched mainstays of physical gaming and not only do so digitally but with a fresh coat of Candy-coloured paint.
