Breaking Bad is one of those shows that everyone loves to tell you about whether you want to hear it or not, and with the continued run of prequel series Better Call Saul still running on Netflix, you can't expect that to go away anytime soon.
What you can expect is a new mobile game based on the series, called Breaking Bad: Criminal Elements. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, it's a strategy game developed by Plamee, a Russian studio known for titles like Narcos: Cartel Wars.
There's precious few details out there, but we do know that you'll be interacting with all your favourite Breaking Bad characters, and presumably you'll be making and selling meth. There's also moral choices to make, like "is it right to sell meth?", so look forward to that.
Haven't we been down this road already, you may ask? Why yes, we have! Scopely, the team behind The Walking Dead: Road to Survival, was working on its own Breaking Bad strategy game a few years back called Breaking Bad: Empire Business. Unfortunately, after years of development, it was quietly cancelled and brushed under the carpet, never to be heard of again.
Some predictions, then: 1) Criminal Elements will be basically identical to Empire Business, because they're both Clash of Clans-style strategy games; 2) Criminal Elements will essentially be a reskin of Narcos: Cartel Wars, because why wouldn't you just reuse an existing game as the base of a similar title, and 3) if it ever launches, Criminal Elements will probably be OK, but not great.
You may call that pessimistic, but I think we've all seen enough strategy mobile game tie-ins to know that I'm basically right. Only time will tell, however. We'll be sure to keep you posted once we know some actual concrete details about Breaking Bad: Criminal Elements.
