Rhythm Heaven Gold tops Japanese software charts
US and UK releases could be imminent, too
The DS is without a doubt the big winner in Japan this week. Not only did the console top the hardware charts there, but Nintendo game Rhythm Heaven (or Rizumu Tengoku Gōrudo to call it by its Japanese title) also came out on top in the multi-format software sales chart.
In the week ending September 7th, the game sold 55,000 units, far outselling the game in second place, the ubiquitous Wii Fit, which shifted 32,000 copies.
Rhythm Heaven Gold is the DS successor to GBA game Rhythm Tengoku, a GBA game which didn't see a release outside of Japan. Both games are developed by the same team as the WarioWare series.
It seems that Rhythm Heaven Gold will see a release in the west, though, with US and Europe both listed as getting the game sometime this winter.
According to a listing picked up over at NeoGAF, a special compilation CD of songs taken from both the original game and new one will go on sale in the US. The three-CD compilation includes a whopping 140 songs and a special booklet revealing events that occurred during the games' development.
