Kalypso Media has announced today that they will be releasing a port of the turn-based strategy game, Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus for iPad and Android tablets on April 22nd. The game initially launched for PC and consoles back in 2018 and holds a 78 rating on Metacritic for the PC version.

This adaptation of the console and PC version will include the full game, naturally, as well as the Heretek DLC. Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus sees you leading your Adeptus Mechanicus forces across the planet Silva Tenebris in search of ancient technologies that can be salvaged from Necron tombs.

You will take on the role of Tech-priest Dominus Faustinius and take charge of customising your team with a mixture of troop types, disciplines and augments. Each mission will require you to carefully manage your resources alongside controlling your squad's every move as you battle your way through to that coveted, forgotten technology.

It's a turn-based strategy game then where each victory and tomb explored will net you a plethora of rewards. On top of that, unlocking in-game achievements will also net you powerful abilities to make use of. The aforementioned Heretek DLC adds five missions to the base game and sees you fighting against the heretic Tech-Priests.

Each mission has been hand-crafted, rather than the increasingly common procedural generation we see in these types of game. The story, meanwhile, has been penned by Black Library author Ben Counter. It promises to stay loyal to the franchise's lore and therefore provide a narrative that ardent Warhammer fans will enjoy.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus will be available over on the App Store and Google Play on April 22nd. It will be a premium title that costs €12.99/ £11.99/ $11.99.
