[Update] Unseen Diplomacy cleverly avoids the limitations of HTC Vive's room-scale VR
Coming to Steam on April 5th
We weren't sure at first if Unseen Diplomacy was coming out at all as it was apparently hard to replicate in a house. Thanks to a new blog post by its creators, we do know now that it's actually coming on the day of the Vive's launch, April 5th.
It will cost £1.99 so don't expect any new content apart from what's shown below. On top of that, do note that a room of 4m x 3m so this makes it one of the experience that requires the most space at launch.
We finally got our first lengthy look at some gameplay from Unseen Diplomacy, an upcoming VR game that cleverly avoids the limitations of room scale.
Using the HTC Vive's tracking system, player will move around in small rooms solving one puzzle at a time or jumping through lasers. You'll even crawl in virtual ducts. Every time you're finished, a door opens.
Where the concept is clever is that each door is making you move around your space so that you end up circling back to where you were but in a different virtual room.
It's quite a neat solution to continue the exploration inside the game without resorting to teleporting.
Our VR expert Jake Tucker already previewed the game and found that it was "immediately a fun and exciting game, although half the fun seems to be from watching other people play it."
The developers are looking at launching the game soon and we'll let you know if we have a solid date.
