Out at midnight: Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past is a mobile movie tie-in that might actually be good

Mutant movie X-Men: Days of Future Past will be out in cinemas this week. So, it should come as no surprise to learn that a new X-Men game for iOS is about to go live.

This one's called Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past. It's a 2D side-scrolling platformer with oodles of combat. Kitty Pryde, Wolverine, Colossus, Cyclops, and Scarlet Witch are playable characters here.

You'll also battle iconic X-Men villains like Magneto, Nimrod, and Master Mold. The comic story itself was co-written by Wolverine and the X-Men producer Josh Fine. No idea about the identity of his co-writer. Maybe it was his mum.

Anyway. I've played Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past for about five seconds and it seems pretty good - a rarity for a movie game. Then again, it is made by the guys behind the Gold Award-winning He-Man: The Most Powerful Game in the Universe.

Uncanny

Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past will cost £1.99 / $2.99. And unlike certain other superhero games, it won't require an internet connection and won't feature any in-app purchases.

Plus, the game's developer, Glitchsoft, tells us that free updates with Storm and Polaris are on the way.

Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past will be out on the US and UK App Stores at about midnight, and on the Amazon Appstore shortly after. The wider Android launch on Google Play will take place later in the summer.
