There's very little in life more satisfying than creating something out of nothing.

In Flat Earth Games's brand-new iOS game TownCraft, you'll start with a simple hatchet. But if you put in the hours, you'll end up with a bustling city.

You start off in the medieval wilderness between two kingdoms. One of these realms is ruled by the narcissist King Oligarchy. The other is ruled by the harsh Queen Omnibus.

You need to attract their citizens to your own kingdom, so you'll gather resources and craft them into saleable building materials and wares. There are simply hundreds of items to craft here. And if you have the knowledge, your town can become self-sufficient.

Travellers will arrive to work, trade, and live. Oh, and to see the sights you've created. Because of the in-game real-time day / night cycle, you can also watch as your citizens go to bed or go about their daily chores.

As your city rises in notoriety, you'll acquire the means to compete with the other kingdoms. At that point, a slightly surreal story apparently unfolds.

To mix things up with each new game, Flat Earth Games has included procedurally generated towns in TownCraft, so you'll genuinely have to explore to find resources each time.

You can get started on building your kingdom right now, for TownCraft is available to purchase on the App Store for £1.99 / $2.99.
