Titan Attacks!

Oh hey, so this is easy.

Do you like Space Invaders? Would you like to play Space Invaders with 16-bit graphics and a handful of tweaks? If you answered 'Yes' to both these questions then you're in luck, because Titan Attacks! is exactly that.

Rather than bore you to tears with an overly-long explanation of how Space Invaders works, here's a quick summary for the five people who've never played it: You control a tank which moves left or right that must shoot enemies who inch every closer as time goes on. If they touch you, you die.

Smart bombs are great!

Titan Attacks! may follow the same formula, but it does so while adding its own twists. One of these twists helps in building a more powerful tank. Shooting aliens that escape from exploding ships gains a skill point which can be used to upgrade the player's tank.

Furthermore, capturing parachuting aliens gains a score bonus, and shooting a flying saucer offers the chance of an instant power up, such as doubling your guns.

In between levels, there's a level up/upgrade screen where players can spend in-game cash to improve their tank's guns, shields, or power ups, or purchase smart bombs to obliterate anything and everything on-screen in your one hundred level journey to the top.

:(

Titan Attacks! is as old school as they come, and a testament to the brilliance of Space Invaders. Space Invaders was originally released in 1978, and yet some 30 odd years later, Titan Attacks! still feels fresh and inventive.

If you like Space Invaders, and you would you like to play Space Invaders with 16-bit graphics and a handful of tweaks, then you are in luck, because Titan Attacks! is exactly that: An updated Space Invaders for new-and-old school mobile gamers.
