Given it's mere days since DistinctDev revealed total downloads of the Lite and paid versions of The Moron Test had hit 765,000 on Android, its immediate support for OpenFeint shouldn't be underestimated.

Indeed, the games network's first foray onto Google's platform will rely on the big Android releases getting behind it in the coming months, as Aurora Feint looks to branch out from its iOS base.

In DistinctDev's view, however, OpenFeint's multi-platform amibitions won't only benefit Aurora Feint, with the firm pitching its appearance on the platform as a step in the right direction for development as a whole on Android.

On the level

"Taking The Moron Test cross-platform has been a great success for us, and OpenFeint integration on Android is a huge step towards parity," said DistinctDev co-founder and COO Mike Monaco.

"Now that the leaderboards, achievements and friend lists are on both versions, it has become almost completely irrelevant which smartphone platform you use to play The Moron Test."

The title has enjoyed success on both platforms, it's aforementioned Android total making it the 9th most popular paid app on Android Market, the iOS release having snatched the top spot on the US App Store at launch.

Life outside of Game Center

It is, however, the co-operation between the two releases that OpenFeint allows for that made Aurora Feint's network the obvious choice.

"For us, integration on both iOS and Android is the killer feature that makes OpenFeint the default choice over Game Center," added president and CEO Berkeley Malagon.

"While we applaud Apple's efforts to create their social platform, Game Center is inherently tied to iOS, and we don’t expect that to change any time soon."
