Nintendo drops the details of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's Expansion Pass

Having been labelled as one of the best games of all time, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild still has its Expansion Pass to look forward to. Lucky us, Nintendo's dropped some solid details as to what to expect from it.

The Expansion Pass consists of two parts: The Master Trials, launching this summer, and the second (so far unnamed) launching this winter.

But, to get straight to the point, The Master Trials will be on its way soon, and is bringing a few tidy factors with it. To summarise, it consists of:

  • Trial of the Sword
    • Previously known as 'The Cave of Trials', here enemies will appear one after the other. Link won't have any armour or weapons and will only move onto the next room once he's defeated all of the enemies. There are about 45 rooms in total.

    • Once all of the rooms have been completed, the power of the Master Sword will be awakened and will always be in a powered-up, glowing state.

  • Hard Mode
    • Here you'll be faced with a new, higher challenge, as the ranks of enemies are increased. You might even come face-to-face with higher ranking enemies that you wouldn't usually meet on the average adventure.

    • Enemies will also slowly recover their health during battle and spot you much more easily, making it harder to sneak up on them.

  • Hero's Path Mode
    • This mode helps you keep track of where you've been in the world of Hyrule. By marking your path in green on the main map, you'll be able to keep an eye on the areas you've yet to discover.

    • By recording up to 200 hours of playtime, you'll be able to use an adjustable sliders to track a certain amount of time if you wish it.

  • Korok Mask
    • When you find the new Korok Mask, you'll have a way easier time actually finding the tricky, little beasts in-game. If you're donning the item, the mask will shake when you're coming up on Korok's location - like how your sensor will beep when you're coming up on a shrine.

  • Travel Medallion
    • This useful Travel Medallion will sit in a new treasure chest somewhere in the game. When you find it, you can create a temporary new travel point which Link can travel to at any time. You can only have one on the board at any time, however, so choose wisely.

  • New Equipment
    • Eight pieces of equipment inspired by old characters and games in the series will come into play. Once discovered, you'll be able to wield such items themed after fan-favourite characters/games like Midna, Tingle, Phantom, and Majora's Mask.
The DLC comes bundled at £17.99/€19.99 for the Wii U/Switch, and can be purchased through the game's main menu, the eShop, or when you grab an Expansion card at retail.
