While early attention focused on The Heist knocking Angry Birds off its perch at the top of the App Store charts, focus has now shifted to how many copies it sold in doing so.

Day one downloads were pegged by The Loop at over 25,000 units.

However, TechCrunch believes sales have accelerated since then, with The Heist now being picked up at a rate of more than one download a second.

Download day

Day two downloads reportedly came in at just shy of 90,000. As such, the game's total now sits at well over 100,000 units.

Crucially, however, the site concludes that, with 86,400 seconds in a day, The Heist's day two numbers mean that more than one copy is being downloaded from the App Store every second.

Retailing for 99c/59p, that means revenues will also sit in excess of $100,000, just three days into its life.
