EA Mobile's Tetris has topped the N-Gage sales chart for the week of 6-12 October.

New platform, same as the old one? The teams behind Nokia's more cutting-edge first-party N-Gage games could be forgiven for gnawing on their fists with frustration.

But actually, the fact that Tetris has taken top spot, with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed at number two and World Series of Poker at number three, is pretty interesting.

Why? It may signify a shift in the N-Gage userbase towards more casual players. And if that's the case, it implies that Nokia's policy of preloading the N-Gage app on handsets is resulting in a decent amount of new registrations.

What's also interesting is what this means for the platform itself. Will publishers bring more big brands and casual titles to N-Gage, and will this policy be reflected in Nokia's own games?

It's more fodder for this month's Nokia Games Summit in Rome. Which, incidentally, has just published details of its speaker line-up on the official website.
