There's been something of a groundswell in recent months with some of the larger iPhone developers testing the water when it comes to publishing other people's iPhone games.

One of the first to announce its intent was Scottish outfit Tag Games.

It's now confirmed it will be stepping into the publisher role for the first time with Bristol studio Mobile Pie.

Set in a fictional 1980s New York, its game B-Boy Brawl mixes up the rhythm-action with hip-hop music as you claim turf by beating rival crews at dancing.

"We decided we only wanted to publish games that reflect the style and attitude of our own content and when the team at Mobile Pie approached us with B-Boy Brawl we knew we had a great fit," explained Paul Farley, Tag's MD.

"I'm very excited by the prospect of the Tag and Mobile Pie teams working closely together to bring iPhone gamers a rhythm action game with originality, wit, style and of course some sweet hip hop tracks."

"We're extremely excited to be partnering with Tag Games on B-Boy Brawl as it brings so much passion and a wealth of expertise to the party," said Will Luton, Mobile Pie's creative producer.

"We've put months of love into the game and with the tracks we have lined up it's destined to shake up the iPhone gaming world!"

B-Boy Brawl is due to be released in late January 2010.
