Caught in its web once more

Director's Cut update for Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor coming to iPhone, plus free game Hornet Smash

The beautiful, addictive and impressively unique puzzle game Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor is easily one of our favourite iPhone games of the year, and we're delighted to hear that developer Tiger Style is preparing to round out 2009 with an update and a free arcade version of its web slinging success.

We just heard exclusively that the Director's Cut of Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor has been submitted to Apple, and will deliver ten new rooms to the mysterious mansion, along with 24 achievements, a level select feature and more clues as to the sad story around the disappearence of the family Bryce for you to piece together.

Alongside the release of the Director's Cut update will be a free arcade version of the game focusing on the hornet snaring aspects of the full Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor game.

Spider: Hornet Smash is a fast-paced arcade survival game with three levels of hornet snaring action, with online leaderboards and a free, one-level taster of the full Spider game.

You can expect Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor the Director's Cut and Spider: Hornet Smash to spin their webs on the App Store any day now, most likely around December 21st to 25th. A superb early Christmas present that's quite literally coming down the chimney of Bryce Manor.

In the meantime, why not take a look at our exclusive interview with developer Tiger Style about the making of one of the most innovative games currently crawling around your iPhone.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
