Forthcoming twin-stick shooter Son of Scoregasm will spray colourful explosions all over your Vita screen

Charlie Knight of Charlie's Games has revealed that his colourful arcade shooter Son of Scoregasm is heading to Vita.

This will be a good companion game to Jeff Minter's Silver Award-winning TxK on Sony's handheld. It's a twin-stick shooter - the sequel to 2011's Scoregasm - with lots of explosions, bullets, and non-linear progression.

Rather than your being locked inside an arena - as in many shooters of this ilk - Son of Scoregasm consists of interlinked levels through which you can progress in any order.

Some levels will be easy. Others, however, will be much more challenging, though they will offer you a chance to reach a higher score. That's what it's all about - reaching that big score.

To do so, you'll need to, unsurprisingly, shoot enemies. For big points, mind, you'll need to use the pulse attack.

This will help you survive by pushing crushers back and cutting through fields of bullets. It can even "change the direction of a huge, rotating arm made of cannons".

More importantly, though, the pulse attack turns the enemies it kills into score multiplier tokens.

The balance you'll be struggling to strike here is staying alive, shooting enemies for points, and not forgetting to save some foes for your pulse attack.

Knight says that Son of Scoregasm will be available on Vita soon. Currently, he's implementing trophies and leaderboards.
