We'd wager that very few of our readers associate the coming of autumn with the harvesting of crops, but that might change once Rune Factory 4 comes to the 3DS in the fall.

Xseed Games confirmed that the hybrid farming simulator / action RPG will come to North America on October 1 as both a physical retail release and eShop download.

Although we don't know the download size yet, we do have the suggested retail price: $39.99 (~£25.00).

Xseed also published a new website for Rune Factory 4 that's full of information about the game and even has a few eyecatching wallpapers available for download as well.

'Largest adventure ever'

Rune Factory 4 is described as being the largest adventure ever in the Harvest Moon spinoff universe.

In addition to the requisite farming and fighting portions of the game, players can (and we're quoting the website here) 'pick a gender and pursue a passionate romance', customize their battle strategies, till the fields of their farm, and maybe even raise a kid.

In short, mix Fire Emblem: Awakening with Animal Crossing and you'll have a good idea of what Rune Factory 4 will deliver.

Incidentally, Zen United confirmed that Rune Factory 4 is coming to Europe but hasn't announced a firm release date yet.
