DeNA has taken to the wires to announce that Mobage release Rage of Bahamut has become a top performer in the west.

The card battler, developed by Cygames, taps into DeNA's mobile social network Mobage and has hit the top spot on the App Store's top grossing chart in the US.

This follows a six-week run at the top of the equivalent chart on Google Play, with the game having previously made its name on Mobage in Japan as Shingeki-No-Bahamut.

Top performer

"Having reached the number one spots on both Google Play and the App Store, Cygame's Rage of Bahamut is officially America’s number one mobile app," said DeNA representative director and president Isao Moriyasu.

"This achievement clearly shows that truly compelling game designs can be enjoyed by people across cultures, and across different devices on our Mobage platform."

The game's success comes as DeNA's rival GREE attempts to make waves in western markets with the global launch of its own mobile social platform for iOS and Android.

The platform has been backed up by a new promo site aimed at gamers in the US and Europe dubbed 'Come Play GREE'.
