Following a range of merchandising deals relating to its Talking Friends franchise, Outfit7 has appointed Andy Mooney, former chairman of Disney Consumer Products, to its advisory board.

At Disney, Mooney and his team worked to reinvent Disney's retail stores, created new franchises, and grew the company's publishing division to become the global leader in children's publishing.

With Outfit7 looking to exploit the success of its Talking Friends apps – which have now amassed more than 300 million downloads – Mooney's role will be to help grow the franchise, and help the company bring the "Talking Friends characters to life in new ways."

Big numbers

"I have been very impressed with the global reach and appeal of the Talking Friends characters," commented Mooney.

"Outfit7 has cracked two of the toughest challenges in any business - creating products users love and building a unique global distribution network.

"I look forward to working closely with Narry and the Outfit7 team to achieve substantial growth and redefine the future of entertainment."

Outfit7's applications for the Android and iOS boast more than 90 million monthly active users, and the company averages 25 million downloads each month.
