AR firm Ogmento picks up ex-EA Mobile and Sony Online execs
Team assembled for new content push
It's no secret many augmented reality apps are heavy on tech but light on content.
The thrill of shooting lazer beams at spaceships or your friends tends not to last much longer than a couple of minutes.
Ogmento is keen to cast such aspersions aside however. The augmented reality specialist has announced it has pieced together a new team comprised of videogame veterans.
Rick Ernst, who has worked at the likes of Pandemic, Sony Online and Looking Glass, will join Ogmento as lead game designer, while Tim Hernandez – who has served as producer on EA Mobile licenses such as Need for Speed, The Sims and Spider-Man – will take on the role of director of production.
Ogmento's new art director will be James Chung, who has plied his trade on titles across both console and mobile formats.
Creatively speakingCompany president and chief creative officer Brian Selzer believes the application of the three will help kickstart a new round of creativity.
"We have assembled an amazing team of veterans in the video game industry," he said.
"They all understand the unique opportunity ahead of us, and are dedicated to our goal of making innovative AR games a reality."
The signings of Ernst, Hernandez and Chung follows a $3.5 million round of funding in Ogmento, closed back in May 2010.
