Pocket Gamer secures stellar line-up for GMIC's Global Game Stars

All eyes will be on San Francisco this October as mobile hits huge with GMIC's world renowned mobile conference and expo.

Pocket Gamer is hosting opening day with a stellar lineup for GMIC's popular Global Game Stars track that includes Sega, Pocket Gems, PlayFirst, Storm8, Perfect World, Glu Mobile, Unity, Gamevil, CocoaChina, iDreamSky, NativeX and other top speakers.

Keynoting the track is games guru Kristian Segerstrale, Initial Capital's co-founder, Supercell's board director, former head of EA Digital, and serial entrepreneur.

Segerstrale will be presenting on "Funding the Future of Mobile Gaming" and will be sharing valuable insights on ways in which mobile game devs can launch their breakout game without selling their soul.

All eyes on Ed

Ed Fries, Xbox founder, will be presenting his "Secrets From The Future".

Said talk will draw upon career-long trials and tribulations of revolutionary pursuits to answer the questions, "Why do some succeed while others fail? Why are we still waiting for inventions long promised while enjoying other technologies no one imagined?"

David Helgason, CEO of Unity - who recently announced the launch of Unity's own publishing program - will be providing the closing keynote on "How Big Can Mobile Games Get?"


There will be several exciting all-star panels moderated by Steel Media's managing director Chris James and Pocket Gamer's US event editor, Martine Paris.

"Spotlight: Asia" will highlight best practices on releasing games across Japan, China and Korea with Rick Liu, VP Asia Pacific and Latin America, NativeX, Lei Zhang, general manager USA, CocoaChina, Jeff Lyndon, EVP and co-founder, iDreamSky, Kyu Lee, CEO, Gamevil, and other regional experts.

"Are Social Platforms Changing the World of User Acquisition?", meanwhile, is set to feature CEOs from top publishers including Marco DeMiroz of PlayFirst, Perry Tam of Storm8, and Niccolo De Masi of Glu Mobile who will discuss what's worked and what hasn't in driving players into the game.

"Where Will Mobile Games Go Next?" features a conversation among leading publishers including Ben Liu, CEO of Pocket Gems, David Zemke, director of mobile business development at SEGA, and Fabien-Pierre Nicolas, GM Mobile at Perfect World, as they discuss evolving trends shaping the landscape for tomorrow.

Pitch away The program will conclude with a thrilling competition where mobile game devs will have a chance to pitch their games to a panel of investors and publishers in the hopes of winning big.

Top 20 contestants will receive a demo booth at GMIC, top 10 will get to pitch on the Pocket Gamer Global Game Stars stage, and finalists will get to present on the Thought Leadership stage in front of 1,500 industry professionals and media.
