Namco planning to release several iPhone games a month
Internal and external developers drafted in for big push
With Pac-Man Remix already in submission to the App Store, Namco Networks has been chatting with IGN about its plans to make a big push on the iPhone.
It's already set aside an internal team of sixteen people to develop titles specifically for the Apple portable platform, and its remit goes beyond retro remakes and classic conversions.
As new GM Jonathan Kromrey told PocketGamer.biz: ""We plan on having a great spread of products at various prices. I want us to go beyond that, though, and create the next Pac-Man, seek out unique and innovative experiences and this is the device on which to do it."

Putting out more than one game every month is no small feat, however, and a modest team of sixteen would be pushed to achieve this target. Namco has therefore gathered 'a handful of external developers' to help it rapidly build a catalogue of new and classic games for the iPhone, and will be exploiting the parent company's IPs as much as possible.
"We're forging closer ties with Namco Bandai America," Kromrey concludes. "We're excited about some crossover possibilities."
