MiniDrivers isn't what you might call a polished experience. Its menus are clunky, some of its fonts are jagged, and there's a distinctly shonky feel to its courses and cars.

So you might be surprised to find that there's the germ of a great racing game here. Surprised and then disappointed when the frustrations start to set in at the very first corner.

There are a variety of Mario Kart-style power-ups littering the track and they turn what could have been a nerve-wracking straight-up racer into a frustrating and jumbled mess.

And it's a real shame, because every time things start to get exciting you get hit in the back with a rocket or run over by a steam roller

There's a decent racer somewhere here, but it's lost in a slosh of bad ideas and poorly implemented features

Harry used to be really good at Snake on the Nokia 5110. Apparently though, digital snake wrangling isn't a proper job, so now he writes words about games instead.
