Million Arthur is an RPG card battler in which you play as the millionth King Arthur to pluck Excalibur from the stone in a futuristic retelling of the English legend.

You're introduced to the plot and gameplay mechanics through cutscenes which, though well animated, are basically characters talking at you for a few minutes.

Then you end up in Camelot, a town under your control and your central hub. Pretty much every action can be performed here, like battling, exploring, participating in story beats, or improving your cards.

Let's go for a wander

Exploring makes up the main portion of the game and is where you gather your knights - the cards you use in battle.

It's another menu screen where you hit proceed to fill up a percentage bar, using up action points each time you do so. These recharge over time, when you level up, or by using purchasable potions.

While exploring, you'll come across chests containing knights, a fellow player you can befriend, or a powerful knight you can fight to earn exp. If you win these you'll earn their card to use in battle.

Battles are automated and cost battle points. Each card costs a certain amount of these points to bring into battle with you so you can opt for either quantity or quality.

Where's the game?

Rather than deep and strategic card battles, you get a couple of frames of animation. It's disappointing that the most interesting aspect of a game that's largely a collection of menu screens is automated.

Even more frustrating is the fact that PvP battles use a fully 3D engine, where you can at least watch your characters duke it out. This is totally missing from PvE battles where your cards simply fly into an animated opponent.

There's just nothing to see here - even for a hardened card battler.

Million Arthur is standard fare. There's no fizz, no spark, and while the futuristic take on the Arthurian legend is pretty interesting, it’s not enough to make you sit through the reams of menu screens and lifeless automated battles.

Million Arthur - Where's the game?

Million Arthur is a well animated collection of menu screens and automated card battling that requires nothing of its players and lacks any real gameplay value
