Killzone: Mercenary's multiplayer component will feature 6 maps, 3 different modes, and support up to 8 players

Sony and Guerrilla Games have released some more information about Killzone: Mercenary's multiplayer mode over on the game's official website.

And as you might expect, it's looking pretty good.

Sony and Guerrilla's forthcoming Vita game will support eight-player shootouts and feature three distinct modes of play (Mercenary Warfare, Guerilla Warfare, and Warzone.)

Mercenary Warfare is a free-for-all, every man for himself deathmatch blast in which the player who earns the most Vektan Dollars -presumably by killing the most people - wins the round.

Guerilla Warfare is similar to Mercenary Warfare, expect you're playing as part of a team.

By far the most interesting-sounding of the three multiplayer modes, however, is Warzone. Here, players are split into two teams, with the factions facing off in five different missions. These will apparently test the tactical nous, strategy, and teamwork of the players involved.

You'll be able to blast peeps to smithereens across six different multiplayer maps (Shoreline, Marketplace, Zenith, Refinery, Skyline, and Inlet), each of which features key events from the Killzone universe.

You can check out images of all six of the maps in our gallery at the top of this page.

Killzone: Mercenary will blast onto the PS Vita on September 6th in the UK and on September 10th in the US.
