Here are some facts.
Number one - Infinite Skater looks lovely. Seriously, it's ruddy gorgeous. All pastel colours and thick edges. It makes me smile just to look at it.
Number two - Infinite Skater is an endless runner. And it's an endless runner in the most generic way. There are coins to collect, magnets to pick up, and shields to use. It deviates not one jot from the endless runner format.
Number three - Infinite Skater is fine. It does everything well, its controls are slick, and it's reasonably interesting. It's got a metaphysical story about belief and spirituality, and you can do kickflips.
Question: What do you do?I will answer with more facts.
You roll along a three-laned track, and swipe left and right to change lanes. Swipe up to jump over obstacles, and swipe down to slide under them. There are golden gems to nab as you skate.
When you jump you perform some fancy skateboarding tricks. There's no real reason for these, but the animations look nice.
There are also challenges to complete. Some of these involve feeding a sky buffalo, because reasons. Others are about collecting a set number of gems, skating a set distance, or performing a set number of tricks.
You will have performed almost all of them at one time or another in a different endless runner. Because, as I believe I mentioned, Infinite Skater is about as endless an endless runner as endless runners get.
Question: Is it worth buying? In all honesty, not really. I mean, it's fine. It's so fine it could be called Fine Skater and I wouldn't bat an eyelid.
But it's also premium. Premium with IAPs, and it doesn't really do anything cheaper or free to play runners don't.
To reiterate my argument, Infinite Skater is an endless runner. It has a start, but it doesn't have an end, because it goes on forever. But it's so generic you'll wonder why you're really bothering to play it.
If you're desperate for a premium endless runner then go ahead, throw some money down. Just don't expect anything to really blow your socks off. In fact, expect your socks to remain entirely un-flustered.
