Following on from news about the launch of GameMaker: Studio, YoYo Games has announced its first major client.

Having previously signed up for the beta, German developer HandyGames is already developing its first title using the technology - a role-playing game that it says brings an innovative new approach to the genre.

"We have known about GameMaker for years, but once we heard about a cross platform GameMaker product, we knew we needed to be involved right away," said CEO Markus Kassulke.

"Our experience with the beta convinced us the tool was extremely efficient, yet powerful. We also met with the team at YoYo Games to discuss GameMaker: Studio and the future product vision and we very much like where it's headed."

Go everywhere

GameMaker: Studio offers developers a balanced tool that combined a drag-and-drop integrated development environment with a games-oriented scripting language, with multiple platform support.

With minimal changes, you can publish 2D games for HTML5, Facebook, Android, iOS, Symbian, Windows and OSX.

"YoYo Games is proud to have HandyGames on board using GameMaker: Studio for cross-platform games creation," said CEO Sandy Duncan.

"In just a short matter of time we expect to start seeing innovative and successful new titles on worldwide app stores, Facebook and the web, all created with GameMaker: Studio."

You can find out more about the GameMaker: Studio - licences start from $99 - via its website.
