The momentum behind app discovery site FreeAppADay shows no sign of stopping, with the firm today announcing it has signed a deal with Disney.

The agreement sees Disney's Toy Story 3 starring as the site's app of the week, with the title going free just as FreeAppADay launches its official app on the App Store.

Dealing with Disney

It's a partnership those behind FreeAppADay naturally believe shows just how far the website has come since it made its debut back in January.

"This is another major milestone for the site and its community," says FreeAppADay CEO Joe Bayen

"The upcoming integration of free text messaging and push notification will further elevate the FreeAppADay app into a powerful social networking platform for end-users as well as an effective monetisation platform for developers."

Serving up downloads

Indeed, such notifications are part of a drive to ensure users know just when the apps they're after go free.

On the flips side, such a set-up means FreeAppADay can also reassure developers that their apps aren't going to go unnoticed if they sign up to the site – everyone that wants to know will be in the know.

FreeAppADay isn't the only discovery app on the App Store, however.

OpenFeint, which initially backed FreeAppADay at launch, also has its own Spotlight app, which made its debut at the start of the month.
