Thanks to its promotion of 2K Games' Civilization Revolution - usually $6.99 but now free as part of FreeAppADay - the app discovery platform has announced it's had another record breaking weekend.

In total, it boosted eight applications into the free US App Store's top 25, with six reaching the top 10. Civilization Revolution made it to the number one spot.

As well as its website, Twitter and Facebook pages, FAAD CEO Joe Bayen pointed to its iPhone app, which has generated over 800,000 downloads to date, as being a driver of such activity.

Going for gold

Indeed, the company has just launched a new app called FAAD Gold. This enables users to make comments within the app, something that Bayen says is another step in bringing the platform closer to becoming a full mobile social networking platform.

Free text messaging will be added to the app in future.

"We are currently growing at a blistering pace with our promotional network poised to reach the one million mark within days." Bayen says.

"All indicators suggest we're successfully harnessing the power of viral marketing which enables us to promote both free and paid applications by instantly reaching close to a million iPhone and iPod touch owners via push notification."

You can get the FAAD Gold app here [App Store link].
