Tin Man Games confirms Fighting Fantasy: The Forest of Doom will be available on Android later this week

There was a time when the mention of a Fighting Fantasy gamebook would be greeted with a nostalgic sigh and a wistful remembrance of lost dice and fingers used as bookmarks.

Thanks to Tin Man Games's recent digital reinvention of the gamebook genre, though, the Fighting Fantasy series feels fresh again.

So, it's to my utter delight that the third instalment of the revamped digital versions, the Ian Livingstone-penned The Forest of Doom, will go live on the Google Play Store later this week.

Power to the people

Before you ask, yes, The Forest of Doom will be powered by Tin Man Games's excellent dice-rolling engine, which has already proven its value in Blood of the Zombies and House of Hell.

Furthermore, The Forest of Doom will feature a new auto-mapping system that means brave adventurers are less likely to wander down the same dead-end twice.

According to Neil Rennison from Tin Man Games, The Forest of Doom "should" be available for Android sometime this week. He's sent us an exclusive screenshot (posted below) to give you an idea about what you can expect in the nasty wood.

iOS gamers needn't worry too much, by the way, for this new gamebook adventure should be hitting the App Store in the coming weeks.

If that's not enough Tin Man Games news for you, Android gamers can now get their hands on the Silver Award-winning Judge Dredd: Countdown Sector 106.

In our review of this title, we described it as "an entertaining, brilliantly designed introduction to the world of dice and bookmarks".

Judge Dredd: Countdown Sector 106 is available on the Google Play Store right now, and will cost you £3.99 [buy]. That should tide you over nicely until The Forest of Doom emerges in the next few days.
