Epic Island is the type of game that I want to enjoy, but I just can't. Not for very long, anyway.

It shouldn't be so tough, really. There are lots of heroes to level-up and send on adventures, loot of various rarities to hunt for, monsters to slay, Titans to vanquish, and an evil wizard that's getting a bit too big for his britches.

The problem is that most of the cool stuff happens automatically - all you do is wait for your heroes to finish their work.

So tired

Things start off reasonably enough. Fights with the local monsters only take a few seconds to complete, eventually moving up to a couple of minutes - not so bad, really.

You can upgrade gear at the Blacksmith, hunt for crates of gold and the occasional Gem (i.e. premium currency), and if you happen to have a free hero you can have them fight against other player's heroes in the Battle Arena for fabulous prizes.

In addition to all that stuff, you can earn extra Gems by completing tasks in the Boasting Hall - and hopefully save up enough Gems for a third hero. More locations can be unlocked giving you more monsters to fight and loot to find.

And the Blacksmith's inventory (it doubles as a shop) refreshes every so often so it's not a bad idea to keep checking-in.

Tired of waiting

But soon it'll take ten minutes to defeat a monster. Then half an hour. Then you'll end up with all of your heroes tied-up in battles and have nothing to do for hours at a time.

This is Epic Island's biggest hurdle, and one that I just can't get over.

I want to play this game. I want to level-up my heroes. I want to battle Titans and earn rare equipment rewards. I want to dominate in the Battle Arena. I want to earn as many points as I can for my faction because screw those Ice jerks.

But I can only do any of that for a couple of minutes at most before it's time to play the waiting game.

Epic Island

Epic Island can be a reasonably entertaining game at times - for about two minutes. Then you have to wait. And wait. And wait
