Riot Games announces the return of the Ruined King with franchise-wide event, Sentinels of Light

Sentinels of Light, Riot Games’ next major franchise event, has just been announced through a web puzzle that players cleverly uncovered recently. Eagle-eyed fans unearthed the site by pooling their knowledge of League of Legends lore together - they scoured Riot Games’ social media profiles, deciphered link changes, and unlocked the announcement with some impressive super-sleuthing.

Beginning July 8th, Sentinels of Light will bring together mega-hit titles in Riot Games’ arsenal such as League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics, and VALORANT in one supercharged event. The reunion of sorts promises exciting new experiences for each of the titles, offering loyal players of each game something new to feed their fandom.

Those looking to join in on the action will also be able to do their part to inspire positive change in society. Via the Riot Games Social Impact Fund, players can once more make an impact much like they did during the last event for the Elderwood Ornn, raising over $7 million through this philanthropic venture. The fund lets Riot Games make direct investments into charitable institutions to promote equality in education and global citizenship, for instance. If you’d like to know more about this initiative, you can visit the official website for more info.

Apart from Sentinels of Light being a continuation of the franchises’ multi-month story arc (which you can learn about in the "Ruination" cinematic embedded above), the event will also bring Viego, Gwen, Lucian, Senna, Thresh, and upcoming "Lost Sentinel" champion Akshan.

What could the Ruined King be up to now, and how on earth could the shooter Valorant possibly be related to all this? For now, you can download Riot Games’ major titles from the official website while you wait!
