One of the greatest ways to play more on the defensive side in any game, let alone in Free Fire, is by playing a bit more stealthy. I don't necessarily mean sneaking up on your opponents, although sure, you can certainly do this if you feel like you're good at it.
What I'm referring to is hiding. Ducking behind boxes and lurking in rooms. Being patient and waiting for the right time to strike. Essentially, like a predator hunting its prey. Just make sure you aren't near the danger zone because it will shrink and it will murder you in a hurry.
Now, you don't need to be stuck in one spot the whole time. Switch up your hiding spots. Heck, you can even hop on the roof of some of the buildings. So yes, you can take the skies so to speak, and still hide out a little bit, but feel free to crouch if you want to be a bit more unseen.
Stock Up on Gear
When playing Clash in Garena Free Fire, you will be able to purchase weapons after each round. You collect more cash after each round so you can buy the best items. This includes specialized gear such as body armor and helmets.
This is more for in later rounds, but definitely try to stock up on the gear. Grab one of two types of body armor and probably most importantly, grab the Horizealine. Horizealine can be used to heal yourself when you get knocked down.
By purchasing these times, you may need to settle for a weaker gun. However, you should be a bit more protected. You'll have your body armor on, and then if you get knocked down, you can heal yourself unless the opponent continues to shoot at you when you're down. If your team is playing well, you'll be able to grab your gear and still get yourself a good gun.
Build Ice Walls
This is probably the most Fortnite-ish feature of Free Fire. In Clash, when you have enough cash, you can purchase a little fort in the shape of a small ice wall. This is a great defensive tactic that is extremely popular with most Clash players.
I've been on both sides of it. I might be shooting at someone, thinking I might get a kill, but then they utilize the ice wall at the best possible time. On the other side, I might be nearly dead, but the wall saved me, whether it was me placing it or a teammate bailing me out.
In all fairness, they don't take a long time to break, which you can respect to have some kind of proper balance when it's used. But, they really come in handy and they aren't too expensive either which is nice and so, I think we can see why they're so popular.
